LA PERLE RETROUVÉE has set up A DAY CENTER for people aged 60 and over to meet a need to brighten up the daily lives of many elderly people of Haitian origin. Of course, FRIENDS of Haitians are welcome.
- Is ready to accommodate 20 to 50 independent seniors;
- Offers its services three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., whatever the season.
- Helps break the loneliness and isolation of the elderly.
- Offers the chance to get out of the house and into an environment specially designed for them.
- Visits to museums, parks, gardens, cruises, sugar shacks;
- Apple picking;
- Accompanying service (doctor);
- Retro evenings, intergenerational get-togethers and more.
- Introduction to computers;
- Exercise workshop, relaxation, games, jokes;
- Group outings with entertainment.

Since its inception in 1998, the organization has been committed to working towards the development of a Centre capable of offering culturally original services. The acquisition of the property of the former Saint-Damase church in 2003 brought us closer to this goal.
Indeed, having laid the foundations for the CENTRE HAÏTIEN d'Activités Communautaires, Culturelles et Artistiques with the purchase of this property, "LA PERLE RETROUVÉE" became better able to offer some form of support to the elderly on a regular basis. Aware of their needs, and in response to numerous requests, the organization seized the opportunity to set up a DAY-CARE CENTER for seniors.
The aptly named "JWA-D VIV (LA JOIE DE VIVRE) requires a permanent secretariat that works closely with volunteers to ensure effective coordination of all program activities. The grand opening took place in January 2009.
- A DAY CENTER to meet an urgent need to brighten up the daily lives of many elderly people of Haitian origin. Of course, FRIENDS of Haitians are also welcome. In our first year, we welcomed two grandmothers from Mexico.
- A DAY CENTER which helps break the loneliness and isolation of some elderly people who stay at home alone, while their children are at work and grandchildren at school. They find themselves at home with only a television to keep them company. Because most of the time, these elderly people are allophones.
- A DAY CENTER offering older people the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy better company in a protected and safe environment
- A DAY CENTER which is ready to welcome around fifty people aged 60 and over, with a certain degree of independence. Five of them are visually impaired.
- A DAY CENTER which offers its services three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., whatever the season.
